As per the UGC guidelines, the Central Universities Entrance Test, or the CUET, is going to assess all the candidates based on a single scorecard, i.e., the CUET scorecard. Since, this has been accepted by almost all the central universities of India, the state and central universities may also participate as per their course availability.
The pattern of the CUET exam is going to be a computer-based entrance exam for candidates to get admission to any one of the 45 central universities of India. After the examination, the NTA will issue a merit list, based on which students will get admission to the central universities, based on the CUET merit index.
The CUET exam pattern will be comprised of 3 different sections.

Section 1 is further sub-classified into two different sub-sections –
This is a compulsory section conducted in 13 different languages, from which the candidate can choose any of their preferred languages.
Section 1B is an optional section for the CUET UG exam pattern, where the candidate may opt for any other language as mentioned in Section 1A.
The candidates may choose from any of the 19 languages listed below.
This section comprises the domain-specific subjects where the candidate needs to select any 6 out of 27 given domain options. Candidates may choose the options that they desire to pursue at the undergraduate level.

Section 3 of the undergraduate course of the CUET Syllabus is mandatory for any particular concern with the general ability part. This mandatory section of General Ability, for any particular undergraduate or postgraduate program, will be also used as a criterion for selection to any university.

The CUET Exam is going to be an online computer-based test, which will be conducted in almost 150 centers across Indian states. The CUET Exam duration for each test is going to be around 4 hours, where the candidate needs to answer objective-type questions. While there will be negative marking for each wrong answer in the CUET entrance exam. The application process for admission to UG courses of central universities is going to be conducted in two shifts.
First Shift – Section 1- Here, the candidates need to appear for the languages, two domain subjects, and the concerned general test.
Second Shift – Section 2 – The candidate needs to appear for another four-domain subject in the second shift, with an additional language test, if required.
The total number of questions to be attempted in the CUET exam for undergraduate courses is –
Section 1A & Section 1B + Section 2 – The candidate needs to attempt 40 questions, out of 50 in each language.
Section 3 – The candidate is required to answer 60 questions out of 75 given questions.
